Campbell Scientific offers a selection of quality wind sensors. Our wind vanes and anemometers are used in research, air quality, and general purpose meteorological applications. Anemometer only versions of some wind sensors are available for customers who wish to measure wind speed or wind run only. Most of the wind sensors available directly from Campbell Scientific are modified slightly from the manufacturer's stock items for use with our dataloggers.
Most Campbell Scientific dataloggers contain the Wind Vector instruction to integrate measurements of wind speed and wind direction into processed outputs such as mean horizontal wind speed, unit vector mean wind direction, standard deviation of wind direction, resultant mean horizontal wind speed, and resultant mean wind direction. Standard deviation of wind speed can be calculated using the Yamartino algorithm or a Campbell Scientific algorithm.
